Jewellery Care

dunhill has a long history of producing the very finest in jewellery, including cufflinks and tiebars.

As with all Dunhill products, our jewellery are made to the very highest standards of quality and craftsmanship, which by nature become very personal items for our customers. Jewellery requires very little maintenance from an official Service Centre. However, there are some simple things that you can do to care for your product.

Jewellery Guarantee

dunhill jewellery items are guaranteed for a period of 24 months from the date of purchase, against faults in materials and workmanship, irrespective of the country of purchase. Your dunhill jewellery item will be repaired or replaced free of charge, provided that the fault falls within the terms of this guarantee.

Damage and/or defects caused by fair wear and tear, accidents, use which is unreasonable or inconsistent with dunhill's instructions, dismantling or repair by persons other than authorised dunhill repair specialists are not covered by this guarantee.

Storage

Jewellery should be stored in an individual pouch, in the original dunhill box or in a separate compartment of a jewellery box. This ensures that the jewellery will be less likely to be scratched as it will not come into contact with other items.

Silver Care

Silver cufflinks, tiebars and rings should be cleaned using special silver cleaning cloths. These can be bought from most jewellers. However, one must take care not to be too forceful as this can damage the surface of the silver. Care should be used when using cleaning agents with jewellery that incorporates stones as they can be damaged.

To maintain the original condition of jewellery on a day-to-day basis, it should be polished with a high quality silver cloth that is non-abrasiv.

Silver can also be cleaned using hot soapy water and rinsing thoroughly afterwards. It should be dried with a soft cloth, not tissue or paper towels. Do not leave jewellery with gemstones immersed in water for too long as some stones are quite porous and this can damage them.

Gold Care

18ct gold jewellery can be gently cleaned using special cloths. These can be bought from most jewellers. However, one must take care not to be too forceful as this can damage the surface of the gold. Care should be used when using cleaning agents with jewellery that incorporates stones as they can be damaged.

Services

Due to the diverse nature of jewellery repairs, we have no standard services and all repairs will require an estimate. However, we do follow certain standard practices when carrying out a repair.

Where possible we replace gemstones like for like.

If a cufflink is lost or damaged beyond repair, where possible we will try to replace it.
