Back to Day 8

FIRE AND ICE is a cinematic documentary profiling Lee Jackson, a British Olympian and two time British Biathlete of the year. The film follows his demanding training regime as he pushes his body to the limit in a gruelling daily routine as he seeks to constantly better his last result and in 15 years of training has achieved what many take a lifetime.

Battling the elements throughout the year to become the best he can be, is just part of the challenge as Lee combats the skills of endurance, accuracy and speed to master the opposing disciplines of both cross country skiing and precision shooting. "Trying to master all these individual sports is one thing but to be able to do them all at the same time is something completely different…The transition from the physical effort to being calm to being able to hit the five targets is the most important thing…You can’t out ski that missed target”Where skiing requires full to the limit speed and pure physical endurance, an abundance of adrenaline and sheer determination when the body leaves you with nothing but will power; Lee needs to juxtapose this with a clear head and pin point accuracy of a steady hand to hit those targets, each one, every time. Watch a hero come to life through gruelling training of both physical endurance and mental stamina in the latest Portraits of Achievements series, following on from the award winning ‘Man at Sea’ and ‘For the Love’.
