Harland Miller "Not Yorkshire"

As part of the Alfred Dunhill "Voice" campaign for Spring / Summer 2011celebrated artist and author Harland Miller talks about discovering himself as travelled the world outside of Yorkshire.

Harland Miller graduated with an MA from Chelsea College of Art and has since exhibited as an artist in New York, Berlin and New Orleans. Miller achieved critical literary acclaim with his 2000 novel Slow down Arthur, Stick to Thirty.

One of Miller's defining works came in 2001, with a series of paintings based on the dust jackets of Penguin books which marry aspects of Pop Art, abstraction and figurative painting, along with his love of text. In 2002 Miller became writer in residence at the ICA, programming a number of events, drawing on his experience in literature and art, notably devoting a season to Edgar Allen Poe -- scheduled to coincide with the anniversary of Poe's birthday.
