Care for the Case
A regular, light polish with soft chamois cloth will keep your lighter lustrous and shining. It is normal that after a period of time, tarnishing will occur on plated metal surfaces. This effect is heightened through contact with chemical substances or conditions of high humidity.
In general use, you should try to take more care if you own a lighter with lacquer and / or highly polished surfaces. These luxurious surfaces are particularly sensitive to scratching, and these are impossible to remove. However, for many dunhill lighter owners, a small amount of scratching or tarnishing is in fact a good thing - giving their lighter a patina and a personalised, unique look.
