A-Centric

Heritage & Inspiration

The gloriously understated A-Centric is inspired by dunhill´s Motorities heritage. At the turn of the last century, embracing motoring as the new method of transport, Alfred Dunhill converted his father's saddlery business into a major emporium catering for virtually every requirement of the motorist. He even coined the term ‘Motorities’ to describe the automotive accessories he sold.

In 1903, he filed a patent for 'horological instruments,' paving the way for the launch of the first dunhill timepiece, the free-hanging Motorities dashboard clock, three years later. This inspirational timepiece for the pioneering motorist became the first step in more than a hundred years of inventive timekeeping, culminating in the classic-looking A-Centric.

Modern Elegance

Behind the A-Centric´s crystal, an outer bezel displays the days of the month marked by a revolving hand with crescent tip, while the time of day is read from crisp Arabic numerals and luminous ‘Superluminova’ hands within the central ring.

The stepped-case A-Centric is simple, effective and timeless - yet undeniably evocative and wonderfully nostalgic. It is a precision instrument which would not look out of place in the cockpit of a fighter plane or on the dashboard of a 21st century supercar.

Powered by a Swiss Dubois-Dépraz self-winding mechanical movement, the A-Centric is supplied on a calfskin strap with deployant clasp. The model is also available with an 18ct yellow gold case fitted with an alligator strap and 18ct gold, deployant clasp.

A-Centric Pentagraph

A-Centric Pentagraph

The A-Centric range was expanded in 2006 with the introduction of the extraordinary 42-mm A-Centric Pentagraph, a ground-breaking timepiece which features five separate hands all driven from the centre of the dial. These five hands, which give the Pentagraph its name, variously indicate hours, minutes, seconds, date and an additional time zone. In order to achieve this, dunhill needed to commission its own exclusive, automatic movement for the Pentagraph from the prestigious Swiss manufacturer Dubois-Dépraz.
