Developed during World War II as a shatterproof alternative to glass, each Aquarium lighter and box was made from Lucite. Panels were hand-carved using a painstaking reverse intaglio technique, so intricate that dental tools and drills were favoured. As collections grew, ever more ambitious designs were created.
