As the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship returned to St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns this October, the House marked forty years of distinguished association with the game of golf. Played on Scotland’s most revered coastal greens, the Championship embodies the enduring values of dunhill: quiet excellence, sportsmanship, and timeless style. This is not merely a tournament, it is a meeting of traditions, where the worlds of elegance and athleticism continue to converge.

From the inaugural Dunhill Cup in 1985 to the present day, the House’s role in the evolution of links golf has been one of deep heritage and refined vision.

The Old Course at St Andrews has long been a stage for remarkable moments: Sir Nick Faldo’s imperious run in the late 1980s; Sylvester Stallone alongside David Frost and Ernie Els in 1995; Michael Douglas celebrating with Colin Montgomerie in 2005. Since 2001, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship has honoured this tradition while shaping a new era, pairing professionals with prominent amateurs in a format defined by camaraderie and craft.

The 2025 Championship welcomed a distinguished field of players and guests, continuing a legacy now entering its fifth decade. Among them: Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick, Brooks Koepka and Bubba Watson. Off the leaderboard, familiar faces from beyond the fairways - Andy Murray, Huey Lewis, and Kevin Pietersen - brought their own style to the greens.
