The 7th Annual Pre-BAFTA Filmmakers Dinner

On the evening of 11th February, the 7th Annual Pre-BAFTA Filmmakers Dinner, hosted by our creative director Simon Holloway, brought together the finest minds of the UK film industry for an unforgettable celebration. Held at The Club within our iconic Mayfair boutique Bourdon House, in partnership with BAFTA, the event marked the official launch of BAFTA Elevate—a transformative programme designed to empower underrepresented voices in documentary and factual filmmaking. Guests enjoyed a night of fine food and conversation, where connections were made between all levels and aspects of the Industry.

The dinner hosted 60 select guests, ranging from acting talent to leading figures, all gathered in one space to celebrate the future of British film. Pierce Brosnan, Amir El-Masry and Regé-Jean Page were all in attendance, each embodying the spirit of the event in exquisite dunhill looks. These distinguished individuals joined filmmakers, producers, and advocates, including Reggie Yates, Hilary Rosen, and Jamali Maddix, to champion the next generation of storytellers. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration and mentorship in shaping a diverse and inclusive film industry.

As the evening progressed, the atmosphere was elevated by a live performance from Poppy Ajudha and a DJ set by Nabhaan Rizwan that kept the energy high and the conversation flowing.

Renowned photographer Greg Williams, a friend of the House, documented proceedings with his signature candid, black-and-white flash photography. Greg’s work provided an insider’s perspective, showcasing a dynamic, celebratory atmosphere. As a long-time dunhill collaborator, Greg’s ability to capture moments of intimacy and energy aligns pleasingly with the House’s commitment to preserving the essence of creative excellence.

Dunhill video interviews with key guests captured the essence of the night. We caught up with the likes of David Harewood, Reggie Yates, and rising talent such as Vanessa Van Yeboah to discuss the significance of the evening and the evolving demands of the industry, asking for advice for aspiring filmmakers. BAFTA Elevate mentors and advocates reflected on the partnership’s impact, sharing their views on the importance of representation in the documentary and factual space and how BAFTA Elevate is innovatively breaking down barriers.
